Apple Releases iOS 18.3 with Enhanced AI Features and Notification Improvements
Apple has officially rolled out iOS 18.3, introducing significant changes to notification handling and expanding its AI capabilities across compatible devices.
The update brings notable modifications to how users interact with notification summaries while addressing several bug fixes from previous versions.
In a noteworthy change, Apple has temporarily disabled notification summaries for news and entertainment applications.
This adjustment comes in response to accuracy concerns, particularly after the BBC highlighted issues with headline summarization. Users who opt into this feature will receive notifications when the service becomes available again.
A significant development in this release is the default activation of Apple Intelligence on compatible devices. This feature is now automatically enabled on the iPhone 15 Pro series and newer models, as well as iPads and Macs equipped with Apple Silicon M1 chips or later versions.
The update also introduces Visual Intelligence enhancements, allowing users to add events to their Calendar app directly from posters or flyers and improved capabilities for identifying plants and animals.

The notification system receives a substantial overhaul in iOS 18.3. Users will now see notification summaries in italicized text, making them visually distinct from standard notifications.
The update also introduces new lock screen settings for easier management of notification summaries.
The release addresses several technical issues from previous versions, including fixes for calculator operation repetition bugs, keyboard disappearance during Siri text requests, and Apple Music playback problems. These improvements aim to enhance the overall user experience and system stability.
iOS 18.3 is available for many devices, from the iPhone XR to the latest iPhone 16 series. However, the advanced Apple Intelligence features are exclusively available on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the entire iPhone 16 lineup.
